Developed in-house by Incentive Software in 1986, Freescape is considered to be the first proprietary 3D engine ever to be used in computer games.

Notable people involved: Paul Gregory, Sean Ellis, Wally Beben, Mike Salmon and Matt Furniss

3D Construction Kit was later released as a game creator toolkit for the engine.
