Customize audio quality and playback on HomePod
You can customize how music sounds on your HomePod with high-quality audio formats and smooth crossfade transitions.
Note: These features require an Apple Music subscription and compatible content. Apple Music isn’t available in all countries or regions. See the Apple Support article Availability of Apple Media Services.
Turn on Lossless Audio
Lossless audio delivers CD-quality sound by preserving all the original audio data. This provides richer detail and clarity compared to compressed audio formats.
If you subscribe to Apple Music, you can play available lossless audio tracks on HomePod.
Go to the Home app
on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap
, then tap Home Settings.
In the People section, tap your name.
Tap Apple Music, then turn on Lossless Audio.
Play music in Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos
Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos creates an immersive, three-dimensional sound experience that makes music feel like it’s coming from all around you.
If you subscribe to Apple Music, you can play available tracks in Dolby Atmos on HomePod. (Not supported on HomePod mini.)
Note: Only the Home owner can turn on Dolby Atmos for all users on HomePod.
Go to the Home app
on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap
, then tap Home Settings.
In the People section, tap your name.
Tap Apple Music, then turn on Dolby Atmos.
Fade and transition between songs
Crossfade creates smooth transitions between songs by gradually fading out the current track while fading in the next one, eliminating gaps in your listening experience.
Go to the Home app
on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap
, then tap Home Settings.
In the People section, tap your name.
Tap Apple Music, then turn on Crossfade.
Drag the slider to adjust the crossfade duration (the time it takes for a song to fade out while the next song fades in).
