This paper proposes a new implementation of the Y00 protocol that uses a quantum mask size reduced to 4 levels from 24 levels that is sufficient to prevent the attacker’s falsified messages in the middle of the communication line at will, even if she knows the full message.

Analysis of Y00 Protocol Under Quantum Generalization of a Fast Correlation Attack: Toward Information-Theoretic Security
- 2020
Computer Science, Physics
A key-refreshment procedure for the Y00 protocol is provided and the framework of the security analyses reiterates two well-known results from the past: Y00 systems would be cryptanalyzed when the system is not designed well and the breach probability of the shared keys increases with time.

Computer Science, Physics
This paper clarifies quantitative properties on the masking effect in the random cipher by Y-00 protocol, and shows the fact that a scheme by the intensity modulation may provide the greatestmasking effect, even if the attacker employs the universal heterodyne receiver.
Key Generation: Foundations and a New Quantum Approach
- 2009
Physics, Computer Science
It is shown that the attacker's optimal probability of finding the generated key is an indispensable measure of security and that this probability limits the possibility of privacy amplification and the amount of fresh key that can be generated.
Guessing probability under unlimited known-plaintext attack on secret keys for Y00 quantum stream cipher by quantum multiple hypotheses testing
- 2018
Computer Science, Physics
This study is the first challenge of evaluating the guessing probabilities on shared secret keys for pseudorandom number generators in a simplified Y00 communication system based on quantum multiple hypotheses testing theory and the result is that even unlimitedly long known-plaintext attack only lets the eavesdropper guess the sharedsecret keys of limited lengths with a probability strictly <1.
